Annie Halpin is a Chicago based oil painter and aspiring designer born in England in 2001, she was raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Annie has practiced art and painting the majority of her life and attended two years of undergrad at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Through oil painting and mixed media she uses her art as a passage to explore topics such as womanhood; the beauty, the ugly, and acceptance. Annie enjoys the therapeutic practice of art as an entity on its own, separate of the final piece. Currently working as a server in Chicago she uses her art practice as a peaceful offset to the busyness of the service industry and city life. Through struggling with a recent autoimmune disease diagnosis she turned to her art practice to cope and accept the challenges that come along with having a chronic illness. In many ways turning to art as an exploration through making the ugly beautiful is a way Annie tries to see the world and inspire creation. Annie hopes to continue to grow her art practice and bring others a sense of intrigue and peace by exploring her work and upcoming projects.
